Music!

How many of you listen to music? I bet most of y'all. So is music really good? Worth listening to? Well, through my logical percipience I think it has more cons than pros.

I mean, I listen to music and wonder how dull life would be without it - but at the same time I think music makes one astray from reality which itself is not a judicious act. It's like a kick, a wont, a practice you get accustomed to; sort of unwillingly. I always use to get tangled in a heated fued with my brother over this issue. He had a very implausible reasoning that his thoughts never went awry whilst listening to music. I still don't believe him, though he could be right.

All my life I listened to music when ...; well, when she left me, when I failed maths, when I got a mean physics teacher, when I disappointed my parents - I listened to music because I wanted to run away from reality. I listened to music because I was weak. I listened to music because I gave up. I listened to music because I wanted to forget the past.

Music degraded me, made me ignoable, worthless and miserable; Music made me despicable in my own eyes.

Music ... Music is bad - it alters its meaning to suit others. It gives you pleasure, but somewhere inside it also hurts you.

Well, I'm trying hard to give up on it, and someday I guess I might. Somehow though music keeps coming back to me - at least it made me realize how pathetic my Urdu is. My friends were writting a song and none of 'em could come up with nice Urdu lyrics; I thought I'll try my bit too, though now I know why I should've improved my Urdu.

Song is about 'Reminiscence' - of how a guy looks back in his life and well ... the good and the bad of life. It's a HipHop song, Urdu/English mix - though we are still struggling with the Urdu.

Here's what I wrote, don't laugh - I know it sounds miserable; it's incomplete as well:

Guzray howay woh din,
Jab yaad ayen gey,
Guzri howi yaadain,
Yun tarpa'aen gi

Ankhoon mai phir kuin?
Ansoo atey hain,
Hunstay howay chehray,
Num ho jatay hain

Toofan ata hai,
Sub ley jata hai,
Paani behta hai,
Sub mitt jata 'ai ...

"Jo meney chaha woh kabhi na paya"
"Jo meney socha woh kabhi na aya"

If someone really wants to take a stab at it, you can message me your email address and I'll send you the track. Good Luck! Though after exams I guess we'll finally sit together and get over with it.

P.S I say all this but somehow I still belie my thoughts when it comes to music - sad!

oh me three!!

and music's just one of those things. the less you talk about it, the better. takes away the enjoyment and all. though i will say one thing: it's a good escape. and it's good for reflection. bas.

send me the track!

and when it comes to music, well not everyone can handle reality 24/7. one deserves an escape, it's how far one is willing to take it. i think music is a state of being and state of mind. in the end it's all on you. yaar why such a controversial topic, you could start a battle of the blogs here. lol, but anyway it's good one.

I disagree with you.

Music teaches us the skills we need in life. An example is harmony. Harmony is not only an aesthetic, it's a survival skill. You can add rhythm, composition, lyrics, and you have more of life's ingrediants.

Cavemen were probably pounding bones against caves or something.

Regards.

SMZ, Sadaf, Mahnoor & Natasha::: :-)

Renegade Eye::: I don't grasp Harmony when I listen to Pearl Jam, or even Nirvana. But as I said there are some pros to it.

The whole interpretation of music is amiss now; one just doesn't know what sorta music is audible anymore.

I think music is now a facade, and its true intend has been long eradicated. Its not the music that's blameworthy, but the society who made a mockery out of it.

I'd rather smell a rose that's original and fresh than a phony artificial rose manipulated to please the need of others.

Sadly that's what music has become!
